Hello ETEC 623,
I am looking forward to learning more about technology in educaiton.
Since technology is much more than just computers, I believe looking at its implementation in an educational setting is extremely important. If technology is considered all that humans create to modify the environment, the applications and implementations are endless.

Rosa,
I agree that technology is much more than just computers and electronics. Technology is basically anything that can make everyday tasks easier or more effective for us.

Thanks for the comments on my blog, The powerpoints that I have used in the classroom are specific for Algebra I and Geometry which I am teaching this year, but of course everything is adaptable. I and going to burn some of them on dvds for absent students as well....
Just like the imagination, technology, and all its different facets from computers to DVD's, to Ipods to digital cameras are endless in their possibilities. Used effectively these technologies have great potential to enlighten the minds of students.
Rosa,
I agree with your definition of "technology". This is an issue that I have struggled with and considered greatly. When people hear what program I am in, the immediate assumption is that I am a computer geek (pardon the stereotyping :-)), but I too see technology as much more than the computer. I am also very ware that technology is ever changing and will continue to do so as technology improves. My one thought is that as new technology arrives on scene, we often leave behing the older ones. One example that I think of is the use of .mp3 formats and iPods. While this is truely a great technology and I am fully immersed in learning more about such, there is still the use of more traditional audio formats such as a "CD". I guess I approach technology use as anything else I do, look at the whole picture and determine what is best for the majority involved.
