Session 1 Response

Reflections on the use, communication and support of technology from leadership in education perspective:

If technology is everything humans create to modify their environment, then it is fair to say that we have been making conscious decisions about using technology, communicating to others the benefits of technology and supporting the implementation of this technology into our life and our neighbor’s lives from the beginning of time. Take fire for instance. When our ancestors discovered fire, they encouraged the use of it. They communicated the technique to others so they could use it. They helped others gather materials and build pits to start and maintain a fire.

In today’s society the mention of technology usually invokes computers and electronics, but technology is much more than just electronics. Using all available technology and implementing it into a teaching environment has been the core of evolution. Take for instance the Industrial Revolution. It came about as a result of using new teaching techniques with the aid of technolgical inventions (machines implemented for teaching a new labor force).

Very interesting definition of technology and analogy with fire. And I guess that 'technology' is relative to the society in which it is used.

This is a wonderful persspective on technology. It's great to come across people like yourself that seem to have such insight. I look forward to more.
